Kobe Bryant was born on august 23, 1978, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He was named after a japanese city. He was son of an former nba player Joe “Jellybean” Bryant. When Kobes father ended his nba career, he took the family to italy were he played in the italian League. Kobe had too sisters who were also very athletic. Kobe was good to soccer as well as basket ball.
When the family returned to Philadelphia in 1991, he joined a high school basket ball team and led it to the state championships four years in a row. Bryant decided to go strait to the nba when he graduated from highschool. At first he joined the Charlotte Hornets and subsequent he was traded to the Los Angeles Lakers.
In 2008 Bryant were named the Most Valuable Player and carried his team to the finals which they lost. Bryant played on the 2008 AND 2012 U.S. olympic team winning consecutive gold medals.
